Little soul, sweet and kind
Most precious love I’ll ever find.
Little eyes so deep and bright
Fill my heart with joy and light,
My memories don’t ease the pain
As shadows flit, I look in vain
To see you race across the grass,
I’d run to you and hold you fast!
I cannot help but hope and pray
We’ll meet again at heaven’s gate.

I know our souls are intertwined
Like wild rose and tendril vine.
Little one, you are no less
An angel—my most precious pet
Only lent to me a while
So I could learn to laugh, and smile.
