What if the holiday lights all go out?
Is that what a festival’s really about?
We may not have presents wrapped glittering bright
But we’re gifted with stars in a vast, velvet night.
No feasting this year raising cups of good cheer,
But we can still take a deep breath of cool, cleansing air.
Though forces conspire to keep us apart
Let’s relish the time when we’ll make a fresh start.
This season of peace isn’t dismal or stark
If we can just hold steadfast with a satisfied heart.
