Powder-sugar-snow
Dusts off the Old Year’s debacles,
Sweetens New Year’s dreams.
Rising sun//gilt rose
Unpetals// melting nightmares//
Fear dissolves like dew.
Feral roses creep
Through milkweed; wilding garden
Heather’s passed away.
Crystallizing sap//
Time solidified// gold in
Amber// ancient tears.
Shades and hues pooling
Azure, turquoise, cobalt blue
Blend into one sky.
Shocked quartz remembers
World ripped apart; exploding
With ten thousand suns.
Sparrow lying on ground
Thin red line drawn on its throat
Trickles through my heart.
Starlight casts sparkling
Diamonds on snow/ radiant
This wintry midnight.
