The sages say the world’s sustained
By prayer, by acts of love,
And Holy Word that opens gates
In heaven high above.
Yet prayer and Word and kindness
As pillars only stand
When they are held firm in place
By strong, sustaining hands.
The hands that pray,
The hands that give,
The hands that work and strive
To make the world a better place
Exemplify a life
Lived capably in word and deed
Reflecting holy grace,
Translated into working hands
That keep a steady pace.
They do not shirk—they take in stride
The work that must be done
From the breaking of the day
Until the setting sun.
And when the day’s work is done,
The pillars are in place —
Cemented by a life well lived
And blessed with heaven’s grace.
