If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride—
We say this old adage and take it in stride.
Yet our hearts still long for a wish to come true,
So these are the blessings I offer for you:
May the sunlight always open your eyes,
and breath freshen each day; may the good earth rise
Softly to kiss the soles of your feet,
May you taste honeyed joy
With each friend that you greet.
May hands flower open should you stumble and fall
To gather you up and help you stand tall.
May starlight glimmer each gentle good night.
May your dreams be a journey of peace, love and light.
